Their commitment to community-centric values underscores Pashion’s role in shaping Cardiff’s musical landscape.
How did you all first connect, and what inspired the creation of Pashion?
There weren't six of us from the outset. Harrison and I met Dan (Gren) at a garden party in the summer of 2022, where we quickly discovered that we shared very similar tastes in music and an enthusiasm for events, which led to the inception of Pashion. Shortly after, Gren introduced us to Eli and Sam, whom he had known through university. After playing a couple of house parties with them, it was a no-brainer to ask them onboard; their knowledge and passion were rare to find in a city where attitudes toward house music, particularly among students, were mixed at best. Dylan is the most recent addition. After attending and eventually playing at our parties during uni, he became part of the team. He has since repaid the faith by organising our upcoming event at 93 Feet East in his hometown, London.
What are some of the difficulties you have faced as an up-and-coming label?
Every label wants high-quality, refined releases, but that kind of music doesn’t grow on trees; it takes a lot of time, research and building relationships. You feel this more as a small to medium-sized label.
What are some of your favourite parties/collectives in Cardiff?
Haŵs. Eben has shown you don’t need to be in London, Manchester or Berlin to be a staple. Sometimes, from Cardiff, you can feel quite far from the heart of the scene, but Haŵs can bring you pretty close.
Any upcoming collaborations or events you’re particularly excited about?
Feeling very fortunate to be making our debuts in London and Amsterdam over the summer. Last year, we were in Rabat, Morocco (thanks Amxire) and these cities feel like a natural progression, so, yeah, very excited!
